I think it means there are more than 20 (or whatever) posts "unread". There is a "mark as read" button, but i haven't bothered to work out how to use it.

I'm quite confident that's it's just activity of the thread. I stay up to date constantly (never more than a few unread anywhere), and a couple fo the bigger threads are still happily burning away

It looks like activity to me. Your name is now on fire Though it seems to have moved from red to green and back to red. Guess there are levels of 'on fire', or a bug in the board

lol, you caught me playing around with the new admin settings! ;D You'll notice that the board links light up when you move over them now too.

Just in response to the original question - Java, C++, Perl, Pascal (at some point in time), PHP (still learning), JScript (for ASP scripting), and Scheme. And some people here seem to be counting HTML as a programming language.
